In a caring and committed group, you’ll be expertly and lovingly guided up, up, up through the awakening elements: earth, water, fire, air, and ether. Each element is a journey itself, presenting new tools related to authentic connection and community.
During these five weeks together, we will ‘awaken’ our leadership through embodiment, inner discovery, self-revealing, and getting the world of others. You’ll learn and practice tools based on interpersonal neurobiology and nonviolent communication.
What does “Awakened” mean?
As I imagine my childhood, I am immersed in color, sound, shape, and experience. Beyond the thinking mind, my whole nervous system was engaged in the senses – sound, touch, taste, sight, smell. My mind-body-spirit functioning at optimal speed and pace. No sense of time – pure limitless flow. Life - a process of discovery. Eyes open. Do you remember?
At some point, I fell asleep. I was assimilated into the roles and responsibilities of my culture. The spiral path can turn downwards as we enter the shadowy depths. Eyes closed. But not forever…
What a glorious life!
Eyes open again. Feelings are felt. The felt-sense of the body. The intimacy of Now, where everything is available. The spiral upwards toward awakening. What a gift to wake up my senses once again. What a gift to relieve my stress with connection games and authentic relating. What a gift to cradle my fears with love and courage. Now is the time.
So in this 5-part course, we will ‘awaken’ our leadership through embodiment, inner discovery, self-revealing, and getting the world of others. Harmony, peace, courage, and depth. Awakening.
What does “Leadership” mean?
Leadership is like poetry.
Great leadership is the distillation of raw emotions – happiness, grief, courage, wonder, etc. - expressed beautifully or startlingly but always honestly.
Leadership can give life to our celebrations in times of joy.
Leadership gives us hope, solace, courage, and commitment in times of despair. In times of change, leadership becomes a call for action.
Great leadership invites us to contemplate our passions and sparks transformative insights. Leadership connects to our right brains – our whole body.

Dates and Times: Every Saturday (Feb, 13, 20, 27, Mar 6, 13) from 12-2pm (EST). *There will be a bonus Harvest and Integration Session, 1 or 2 weeks after the course.

The 5 Awakening Elements:
Over the course of 5 weeks, we will dive into 5 unique aspects of relating, which I offer through the lens of Awakening Elements.
1. Earth – Grounded, stable presence
2. Water – Fluid, clear, deep conversations
3. Fire – Staying in connection, self-revealing, making requests
4. Air – Nonviolent Communication and meta-awareness skills
5. Ether – Leadership, taking initiative and engaging others
Practices and skills offered in this course:
Grounding Meditations and Somatic Stress Release
Embodiment – movement exercises to tap into the body’s innate wisdom
Interoception – feeling “aliveness” in the body, the inner felt-sense
Breathwork and Sound to calm the nervous system and activate the social-engagement system
Identifying underlying needs and values in relationship and community
Entering the “We” space in conversation – skills to clarify, focus, shift, and acknowledge
Self-revealing practices – speaking the moment and sharing impact
Creating a culture of growth and development through feedback
How to “get someone’s world” – empathy practices to understand the needs and values of others
Nonviolent communication skills – Embodying needs and making requests
Conversational Alchemy – transforming judgment into connection, life energy
Clearing the air – using I-You language to clarify needs and values in relationship
Meta-awareness skills – noticing subtlety – how is the conversation going?
Choice and initiative in conversation – how to get the level of depth you desire
Role-playing real-life scenarios in a safe container with valuable feedback
